Snow Days...Snow Days

Well....we are on our 8th snow day since Christmas break. Yes. I said 8th!

And y'all. Seriously. Seriously. They are calling for some snow tonight. And by some snow I mean about 1/2 an inch. That doesn't seem like much but in my rural town it's enough to close school! We have lots of rural roads to travel that don't get salted or plowed therefore making it hard for buses to travel. I just want to get in a routine. I just want a normal 5 day week! I really want a Valentine's Day party tomorrow...not next week sometime. I say sometime because we are supposed to get more snow on Sunday!!! AAAGH! Have you had any snow days? I know those up north laugh at how often we are out!
I've managed to accomplish a few things. I finally have letters A-M RTI units updated! I just completed the A-M bundle and placed it on TPT! That means I am 1/2 way through!

I hope you enjoy your Valentine's Day with your kiddos tomorrow!

ICE is overrated...and writer's workshop

Okay.....I am OVER this whole season called winter. I love me some snow days but we are on day 11!!!!!!!!! Ugh! We didn't go Monday...went Tuesday with an early release, then got iced in on Tuesday night, and were out Wednesday-Friday. While I LOVE spending time with my little one, I'd rather be doing it by the pool in June. I also miss my kiddos and the nice smooth routine we had (before Christmas).
We did make good use of our 1/2 day on Tuesday. I started Deanna and DeeDee's writer's workshop!

I know I am about oh....5 months late, but our district bought a new reading series this year with a writing component. We were told to follow it "with fidelity". So I did until I realized the writing component completely stinks! I went to my principal and she agreed that I needed to do what I thought was best for my kiddos. So...out goes reading series writing and in goes Writer's Workshop.
I started it a little earlier than this last year and my kiddos LOVED it. Well, we only got 1 day in but Oh.My.Goodness! They loved it and so did I! Here are some examples of their sweet writings.

HOPEFULLY we will be back on Monday! Although they are calling for snow tonight and oh wait! More next week! (Insert sad face.)

Guess what I got?????

A   snow    day. A    snow    day. A    snow    day. (Did you see my snow day dance?) I am SUPER excited. Not only because I get to be home with little bit, but I just figured out something last Tuesday. I have had a doctors appointment with my endocrinologist (2 hours away) for 3 months. It was scheduled for next Wednesday. No biggie, right? Well, it was supposed the 100th day of school!!!! I was TORE UP that I was going to miss this big day. I LOVE my substitute. She was a parent of one of my kiddos last year and was my assistant's sub for 3/4 the year last year so I totally trusted she could do it, but I was so upset I was missing this big day for my kiddos. Well....now I don't have to!!!!!!!! Woop Woop! So I get a 6 day weekend. Huh? Yep, today's snow day created a 4 day weekend for us. I'm out Tuesday for a root canal (no fun I know) and then my doctors appointment on Wednesday. So, on my agenda today.....
-finish that unit and post it with a freebie
-clean this house for a showing (again...man I'm sick of this)
-spend time with my little girl
-catch up on blogs

We didn't get much snow, but roads were super slick and it is like -20 outside (okay, not really but close..I think it feels like 4 or something). I teach in a real rural county...we get out if it spits snow! Either way, it's too cold to get out so I am cozied up in my sweatsuit! What are ya'll doing?
