Turkey Fun

We did these ADORABLE turkeys from Doodlebugs teaching.Oh. Did I mention it is a freebie???

http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Turkey-Thanksgiving-FREE-Craftivity-Patterns-969027

I swear...they are PRECIOUS! I followed her advice and had a bag for each student with all of their pieces. They cut them out and put them back in their bag. Then they assembled. Do you die from cuteness?

This is my sweet baby's turkey!

Look at that hat! I love it!

Hee. Hee. No neck! I love.

And. Well. You know this kid! :) Makes me smile!

We also completed our large turkey in the hallway. You can read more about that here and get the note to send home. (Maybe for next year!)

What have y'all been up to lately?

EEEK! Loving this new Christmas Craft!!!

Okay so I know everyone has seen this on pinterest:

I also found this on pinterest:

Well, I took those 2, put them together, and this is what we came up with. I LOVE these.

I love this one:

WHEW WEE! Let me tell you how great this activity was to observe their ability to order by length. Mercy me. I'll be honest I tried to do the criss cross look ...uh HOT MESS!!! So, we went back to straight! I'll be adding a star to the top of these and putting them in their scrapbooks.

We have 4 days next week and we are DONE. We have finished our Parent Gifts (pics to come soon):

We will also be doing some activities from my A Ho! Ho! Ho! Lot of Learning unit:

What We've Been Doing

We've been having a lot of fun lately. I'll be honest....I'm pooped! So ready for the weekend! Here are a few things we have done this week.

I LOVE this Halloween writing from Thank God It's First Grade. You can grab yours here:

Look at this cutey with arms!!!!

We also did the Adorable Witch Craft from Miss Kindergarten. LOVE!

You can grab yours here.

We also made some ghost feet. I think I might have gotten this idea from The Mailbox YEARS ago. I save it and put it in their scrapbook. Can you see that grin? She was SO ticklish.

I also let them choose thier favorite peice of candy and eat it. I save the wrapper and glue it over the line! Pretty cute huh? What have you been doing?

The "Count" of Halloween

I am so excited to finally be posting this book! My mentor teacher introduced this book to me when I first began working with her 11 years ago! (I cannot believe I have been teaching that long. EEK!) She began using it 30+ years ago when she was student teaching!!! She has now retired and is moving to a beautiful island in a beautiful new home. Sigh. I asked her about using the book, tweaking it a bit, and posting it on TPT and she said SURE! So...here it is!

This is an ADORABLE numbers 1-10 craftivity book to complete in your classroom during the Halloween season! There are many different ways you can do this ranging from print and color to full on crafting! We do so many crafts at Halloween in our classroom so we go ALL OUT!

I begin this book at the beginning of October in my classroom (think next week) and do 2-3 pages a week until the holiday! Each student makes their own book. I know 200 copies seems like a lot but it is so worth it when you see their little faces light up as they read it and take ownership in that they made it! We mostly do the craft version except for the last 2-3 pages, just due to time.

I try to finish these up a few days before Halloween. I make sure they are bound and we pass them out at our Halloween party and read/sing the book to our parents! Did I mention this book is actually "sung" to the tune of "The Muffin Man".

I swear you will love this book! Just click on the image above or below to grab yours!

It's Christmas Again

So remember this post where I received all of those AWESOME teacher items from CraftProjectIdeas.com? Well, imagine my surprise when I come home and there is a package at my house. I am completely stumped as to what it could be because I have no money until payday and I am almost certain I didn't order anything. I mean, I order a lot online and really have no idea what I have and haven't ordered, but I'm pretty sure since my back account is $0 that I didn't. The hubby is looking at me like "I thought you didn't have any spending money?" I get a little nervous. When I see Kindergarten Korner on the package instead of my name I am really stumped. So I open the package and here is what I saw:

Eeek!!!! I was jumping up and down. The wonderful people at CraftProjectIdeas selected me to receive a Back to School package! I was beyond excited!!! (And so was little one). We have made about 15 of these bracelets but that is okay!

There are thousands of beads and 100 chenille stems!!!

And who can't use craft sticks, pom poms, and paint brushes?

And do see these magnets?

I kid.you.not. I had one thing of my list to get this weekend at Wal-mart for school and it was these EXACT magnets!!! It was the craziest thing that I actually received them. As I am browsing their webpage to look at their products, I see these:

Ummm...all of you kinder teachers will TOTALLY relate I am sure. I use this size (25mm) wiggly eyes all the time and you cannot find these anywhere except Hobby Lobby. They sell packages of them in every other size through the school supply companies but not 25mm. Well, guess who does....Wal-mart through CraftProjectIdeas!!! Yay!!! I now will be going to Wal-mart. I have my magnets but I am so getting these eyes!
So thank you CraftProjectIdeas. All of these items can be found at Wal-mart!!!! Go grab yours!!!

Made It Monday

I realize it is almost Tuesday, but I am officially back at work and am just getting to my computer. I am linking up with Tara again (and probably for the last time) for Made It Monday.

Remember here where I said I was going to recover my chair? I think some people thought that was my chair...it wasn't. I said I was going to. Well....I did!!!

Here is my chair before. Can we say UGLY???

I had a shower curtain that I was not using anymore, so after a wash and iron it was ready to go. I basically just followed this tutorial since my chair has a backing on it. I had a few mishaps in that I had to have the janitor to help me get that back off and once it was complete there were a few staples sticking out...OUCH so I removed them and hot glued. When all else fails, hot glue right? Here is the finished product.

I'm pretty happy with it. I have no idea why I didn't do it before!!!

Apple Door Hanger

I'm linking up with Tara at Made It Monday again.

Remember this post here when I wanted to make an apple door hanger for my summer bucket list? Well, I finally did it! Here is what you need:
-About 3/4 yard of burlap ($3.99 at JoAnns or Hobby Lobby)
-Arylic Paint (2-3 small containers for the main color)
-Ribbon or Wire to hang it
-Hot glue
-Recycled Wal-mart bags

Let me start by saying that I purchased red burlap thinking for a red apple it would be easier. Well...not so much. It was SUPER hard to get the green of the leaf and the white polka dots to get back to the right color, but live and learn, right?

First I freehanded the apple and cut it out.
Then I painted the base color red, green leaf, and black stem. I think I had to do about 4-5 coats of the green to get it to be the right color....pretty sure if I had used a regular burlap that wouldn't have happened.

Next I began painting my polka dots. I used the round sponges on a stick to do this...made it MUCH easier than freehanding it!I also added a little accent on the leaf and stem.

Hot glue the front and back together, leaving a gap to stuff.

Stuff it with recycled Wal-mart bags. You needed something to do with those anyway, right?

Hot glue ribbon or wire hanger on back. ** A lot of these are shown with the wire at the top. I didn't want mine to hang that low on the door so I hot glued it about 1/3 way down the back of the apple. Didn't get a picture..sorry!

Here is my finished product! I'm pretty happy with it! I want to hang it on my front door...hubby thinks maybe not! :) He doesn't get it!

If I get to hang the apple on my front door at home, I purchased the burlap and paint to create this for my classroom door!

Projects Started

Well, I intended to get a lot done today. My little one goes to school 1 day a week in the summer so that I can get things done. Today was the day so I was ready to knock some things out since we begin school IN LESS THAN 1 MONTH!!! Boo!
I had some bad luck this weekend. My USB key broke off in my computer. Eeek! (I don't back up...I know. I know...I've learned my lesson.) I am hoping our computer guru guy can fix it...taking it tomorrow. So I head out to school (it's about 12 miles out in the country...feels like 30) only to realize I can't really do anything because everything I need is on that USB.
What is a girl to do when she can't work...shop of course! :) I headed to Hobby Lobby to get burlap for my craft that I am 1/2 way through with. What is that you ask. Remember this?

I have this one and another one in the works.

I'm also recovering my chair using this tutorial. (I swear...my chair is THAT ugly)

Oh..and guess what I am FINALLY breaking down and ordering tomorrow? Give up...An Erin Condren planner!!!!

Yay!
