Wait! I Thought I Followed You?

I swear....every time someone has a giveaway I enter and make sure I follow the blog. It seems like every time I hit "already a member - sign in" it shows me as not a follower. What the heck???? I swear 1/2 of these blogs I was already following. I am shocked when I come across a blog I read daily and I am not a follower. Who knows! Am I the only one this happens to?
On that note....I am curious...how do you read your blogs? I go through my blog roll and see what everyone is posting and click on there. I know some people use Google Reader but I don't know much about that. You think I would since I have had a personal blog since umm......2006 I might know how to do this but no. So, how do you catch up on your favorites?

  1. I use Google Reader. I was using the blog roll but I thought that was hard to see what I had read already. Google Reader keeps track of what you have read and what you haven't.

  2. Ugh...the same thing happens to me with about 3 or 4 blogs that I really like!! I have to remember to check their blogs and I know I've followed them at least 10 times!
I use the list that comes up when I log into Blogger. It's not google reader, but I'm embarrassed to say I don't know what it's called!

  3. I have a question about this also. I used to always click at the top and hit follow but it seems that the follow button has been replaced with share? Very rarely do I click on Join this Site button. I am wanting more followers on my mommy blog but I unsure of what to ask my readers to do. BTW if you are a mommy too please join my blog I'm a mom too!

I'm in between Kindergarten and 2nd grade so I am blogging mostly about being a parent right now. I know nothing about 2nd grade. :/

  4. I use Google Reader too! It is super easy and makes everything nice to read - you don't have to worry about people's fonts or their crazy backgrounds making your eyes hurt!

  5. I have a list of Favorite Blogs on my blog so when I am ready to catch up on what they are posting/writing about, I just go to my blog and click from there. I also have it where it shows how long ago they posted so I know which ones are recent/which ones I haven't read since the last time I was online.

  6. This happens to me, too! I have no idea why. When I realize that they disappear, I search for them in google reader [what I use to read blogs], and I subscribe to them there. And I click 'join the site' again on their site. I have no idea if subscribing is the same as following, by the way!

And like I said, I use google reader. Works great for me! =)

  7. I am a new blogger, but so far I just go down my blog list. I am really not quite sure what to do with the Goggle Reader yet.

  8. I'm a new blogger, and honestly don't feel that I know what I'm doing half the time, haha! I love reading blogs so they're all on my last visited websites, so I just scroll down my browsing history and there they all are! In addition to following as a blog, sometimes I follow a site by email too. What a great blog you have! For some reason I can't see followers right now on any blog, inclulding mine, but you're in my history and as soon as I can figure this out, I'll be a follower of your blog! 9. I have had this happen soo many times. I bookmark all the blogs I follow so that I can go back and add them to a document I have created so I can transfer them over to a new computer when I get one. If I have it bookmarked I know I have followed it, but it doesn't always show up that I am. I wonder why this happens? Odd.

  10. I was having a problem with blogger a few months ago (maybe when they updated the site?) and I would click "follow" but it wouldn't actually work. I always click "join this site" now and it works fine.

I use google reader and go down the list. I like how it lets you know if you've read a post or not. I follow a lot of blogs!

  12. I'm your newest follower. I use google reader (have for years) and only recently discovered you can add a subscribe button to your toolbar. You can click it while reading a blog and google reader will open and will let you know if you already are subscribed or not to that blog. BEST THING ever! :)
